Mid America Snow & Terrain Expert RacerS Racing Circuit

The MASTERS racing circuit formed in 1995 as the Mid America Snowmobile Tournament of Expert Riders. The Masters was formed to sanction Professional and Amateur Snowmobile Racing events in the Midwest. Our history includes sanctioning Sno-Cross, HilKross, Uphill Drags, Snow Drags, Ice Drags, and Hillclimbs. Since 2003, The MASTERS Circuit has focused it's attention on Snowmobile Hillcllimbs and Snowmobile Drag Racing.
This past fall, the MASTERS Circuit diversified to begin planning ATV and Truck XTreme Challenge events, and changed from “Snowmobile Tournament of Expert Riders,” to Snow and Terrain Expert Racers. While the MASTERS will sanction ‘non-snow’ ATV and Truck XTreme Challenges, the circuit’s primary focus is on Snowmobile Hillclimbs and Snowmobile Drag Races.
It has been the MASTERS Circuit that is the PREMIER Snowmobile Hillclimb Circuit in the entire Midwest. The MASTERS started the very popular Copper Peak Championship Snowmobile Hillclimb. On January 16th, 2010, the MASTERS Circuit brought back the Winternationals Hillclimb at Whealkate Bluff. This event, which drew thousands of fans, took place in South Range, Michigan, in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula of the Western Upper Peninsula.
It was the Copper Peak Championship Hilllclimb in the past, and the 2010 Winternationals Hillclimb that is the Midwest’s qualifying event for the World Championship Snowmobile Hillclimb in Jackson, Wyoming. It is the MASTERS Circuit that truly does send the Midwests TOP PROFESSIONAL snowmobile hillclimbers to the World Championships. MASTERS Circuit Hillclimbs are for those with the ‘guts’ and ‘skills’ to truly compete in a professionally sanctioned Snowmobile Hillclimb.
At the Winternationals in 2011, the MASTERS Circuit is going to start a new Vintage Hillclimb class, and have a Semi-Pro Division. The Vintage and Semi-Pro Divisions will NOT have to run the very challenging course that the Pro Stock and Pro Mod Drivers run.
The MASTERS Circuit is also the circuit that runs a series of Snowmobile Drag Races. Our Drag Races are on both, snow and ice. Some are 500 foot runs, and some are 660 foot runs. The races in Merrill and Sidnaw have classes for Vintage, Pro Stock and Pro Mod. The races in Munising have classes for Vintage, Pro Stock, Improved Stock, and Pro Mod. See the links on this website for the details of up-coming Drag Races.
Whether it is Hillclimb, Drags, or XTreme Challenge, the MASTERS Circuit follows rules! Our circuit has specially trained and experienced “Technicians” to not only make sure our races are run fair, but our races are run SAFELY. The MASTERS Circuit has experienced officials. If the MASTERS did not offer all this to the driver, fan, and promoter, WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR CLOSE TO 20 YEARS!
The MASTERS Circuit offers promoters with the chance to bring in a trained staff, experienced announcer, equipment, and insurance for the race and/or event. The MASTERS Circuit does this for basically NO COST to the Promoter!
Whether you talk to one of our officials, drivers, or a fan that attends a MASTERS Event, one thing you will notice. That is how much of a “Family” the MASTERS Circuit is. The MASTERS Circuit prides ourselves in the friendly and professional manner that the event is organized and run. The MASTERS Circuit does not and will not tolerate ANY behavior of any of our officials or drivers that is not in the spirit of sportsmanship. All bad or poor behavior is not tolerated and the individual that displays any act of selfishness or unsportsmanlike is expelled from the event and/or the circuit.
If you are interested in competing at one of the MASTERS Events, watching a MASTERS event, or bringing the MASTERS Circuit into run your event, please contact us.

Sno-Valley Riders Snow Drags at Sidnaw Airport
Saturday, Feb 18, 2012
We are also going to be having Kitty Cat Races in addition to the 120 cc Races at this year’s event. This is the BIGGEST CASH PURSE of ANY of our MASTERS Racing Events. $750.00 for 1st Place in TOP GUN, $500 for 1st Place in Open Stock, and $250 for 1st Place in Vintage Open. This is all due to the hard work of the Sno-Valley Riders Snowmobile Club, so MAKE SURE you show your appreciation for all they have done and are doing to make this the BIGGEST SNOW DRAG in the Midwest!
For this race, and this race ONLY, we are going to be handing out Trophies and the Cash Purse AFTER each Feature. We WILL NOT be having an Awards Banquet. Thus the Features will NOT be running as fast as they usually do, but on the good side, you’re going to get your trophy and money RIGHT AWAY.
ALL Drivers that have sent in registration via e-mail, and have not sent fees in via Snail Mail, you have to either be at UP Chucks in Kenton, between 6 and 9 pm ET THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, or be at the track between 7 and 7:30 am ET. We WILL not be taking registration OR FEEs (even if you sent in the classes you are going to race in via e-mail) AFTER 7:30 am ET.
We are going to make up the Race Charts RIGHT AT 7:30 am ET. Those that have Pre-Registered and paid the fees will be able to IMMEDIATELY go through SAFETY TECH. You will need this weekend's MASTERS Racing Decal to show that you have successfully went through Safety Tech to do your TNT (Test N Tune) Runs.
Remember, YOU and EVERYBODY that goes in the PITS HAS TO SIGN the Waiver and HAVE A PIT PASS on them to be in the PITS. The Sno-Valley Snowmobile Club WILL have people at the PIT GATE checking to make sure everyone in the PITS has a Pit Pass. If we find anyone working on a sled, or in a Trailer, the registered driver will be disqualified. We CANNOT have ANYONE in the pits that has not signed a Waiver and have a Pit Pass!
We are also going to be double-checking your tethers in Staging...so be aware of this. ALL TETHERS are to be attached to a SOLID LOOP either on your Safety Vest or a double-stitched heavy duty safety loop on your race jacket. NO Tethers can be attached to a coat zipper or simply put around your wrist.
ALL SAFETY Rules, as printed on our website and required to be read by ALL drivers is at: www.mastersracing.net. Make sure you read them over, understand them, and agree to abide by them.
These SAFETY Rules will be enforced AT ALL OF OUR RACES this year, with new rules for next season being written, sent out, and posted on our website at the end of this season.

Marquette Mountain Up Hill Drags, Marquette, MI, April 7th, 2012:
This is our most attended event in the past when it comes to drivers. Thus we are taking Pre-Registration for this NOW. Last year we were SOLD OUT of a couple classes, and I'm sure we will be SOLD OUT of a couple classes again this year. To Pre-Register, fill out the attached Registration Form and send it, along with the fee's too: MASTERS Racing, % Marquette Mtn, 610 Greenland Rd., Ontonagon, MI 49953. This race is on a FIRST REGISTERED basis...whether you are a regular driver, racing for points or not, you need to get your Pre-Registration in ASAP.
Or you can 'gamble,' and wait till Friday Night, April 6th, at Marquette Mtn, from 6 to 9 pm and Register. We will NOT take any registrations on Saturday Morning of this event. Plus you may want to drop off your trailer in the Pits on Friday, as the Pit Parking for this event fills up FAST.
While I know that the weather at this time of the year is warm, THIS YEAR WE ARE GOING TO ENFORCE THE RULE OF NOT ALLOWING ANYONE WEARING T-SHIRTS WITH ARMS EXPOSED.
We will once again have a $500 1st Place for Top Gun.
The Marquette Country Convention and Visitors Bureau is the MAJOR Sponsor for this event. The OFFICIAL Lodging Sponsor for this event is Holiday Inn, where you will get a discount IF YOU TELL THEM you are reserving a room for the MASTERS Races at Marquette Mountain.
Check out the website: www.mqtmi.holidayinn.com <http://www.mqtmi.holidayinn.com> or go too: www.marquettecountry.org <http://www.marquettecountry.org>
I will be working on sponsors for this event in the next couple weeks. If anyone knows someone interested in being a sponsor of this VERY POPULAR event, PLEASE e-mail me!
We will have the Awards Banquet for this event at Marquette Mountain on Saturday Night, approximately a couple hours after the conclusion of the races.
Powderhorn Mountain Uphill Drags, Saturday, April 14th, 2012 and Powderhorn Mountain Hillclimb, Sunday, April 15th, 2012: Powderhorn Mountain is located just east of Ironwood, MI.
The Uphill Drags will be the Season Ending Points Championship for those competing in the MASTERS Racing Drag Series. We will either be running on the very gradual 'beginners ski hill,' or an uphill drag. This will TOTALLY depend upon which course has the best snow. I'm sorry if this is going to be a problem for those 'gearing' for this event, but we will do the best we can as close to the race to let you know which course we will be running the Drags on.
Just like Marquette Mountain, I'm expecting a good turnout for this event, so I suggest you Pre-Register for this event ASAP. Send your Pre-Registration for this event too: MASTERS Racing, % Powderhorn, 610 Greenland Road, Ontonagon, MI 49953, or e-mail me the attached registration and 'gamble' on getting a spot by coming to the Pre-Registration Meeting on Friday Night, April 13th, from 6 to 9 pm CENTRAL time at Powderhorn Lodge. In case Mother Nature takes the checkered flag on this event, YOU WILL GET A FULL REFUND.
This event will either have a very minimal gate attendance fee or possibly NO ADMISSION at all for those that want to watch from their vehicles in the parking lot. The NEW Powderhorn Lodge is BEAUTIFUL and has a great view of both the Drag Course and the Hillclimb...plus you can sit right next to the Restaurant!
Same as Marquette Mtn Uphill Drags, NO BARE ARMS will be allowed to race.
We are also working on SOME NEW features for this race...STAY TUNED.
Now on Sunday we are going to run a Hillclimb. Powderhorn is by far the LONGEST Hillclimb the MASTERS has EVER run, since our first hillclimb in 1993. We will have MANY MORE GATES then we have ever had. The Pro Stock and Pro Mod King of the Hill will AUTOMATICALLY Qualify for the 2013 World Championship's at Jackson, WY. If we are successful in getting more entries into the 2013 World Championship Hillclimb in Jackson, we may offer more qualifying entries at the Powderhorn Mountain Hillclimb.
Just so everyone knows in advance, we are going to have VERY STIFF RULES on people in the pits, as ONLY those that have signed Waivers and have a Pit Pass will be allowed in the Pits. We will be checking Tethers at the Safety Check AND in Staging. We will be checking to make sure Tethers are attached to either your Safety Vest or a HEAVY DUTY LOOP on your Race Jacket. No tethers attached to a zipper or around your wrist will be allowed
The Hillclimb will be on the Chairlift run right in front of the Lodge. With this hill being as long as it is, I am looking for VOLUNTEERS to help our limited staff in putting up haybales around the Chairlift Poles and at the bottom of the hill. We are going to be doing this on Friday, April 13th...I know it's a Friday the 13th...
The MANDATORY Pre-Registration Party for the Hillclimb WILL ALSO be on Friday Night, during the Drag Race Registration. This will take place from 6-9pm CENTRAL Time at the lodge. The Awards Ceremony will be as soon as we are done cleaning up, picking up, and making out checks. This will be Sunday after the races at the Powderhorn Lodge.
For lodging information call 1-800-501-7669 (SNOW) or log on too: www.bigpowderhornmountainresort.com <http://www.bigpowderhornmountainresort.com>
I encourage and invite the Drag Racers to also sign up for the Hillclimb, and really encourage the hillclimbers to sign up for the Drags...and make this a GREAT SPRING SNOWMOBILING weekend!
If we can together make this event a success for both the MASTERS Racing and Powderhorn Mountain, we can make this an ANNUAL event! I will be working on sponsors for this event in the next few weeks. Any help on sponsorship is GREATLY appreciated.
In Conclusion...As most of you know, my wife, Sandy and I have had the MASTERS Racing Circuit since 1993. We've been doing this WITHOUT ANY FACTORY support. We've been doing this for close to 20 years because the DRIVERS asked us to keep the MASTERS Racing Circuit going. Most of you also know that since 1993, a lot of Drag Racing Circuits have come and gone. Since 1993, we're the only TRUE Snowmobile Hillclimb Circuit in the ENTIRE MIDWEST. We've been able to do this with the support of the DRIVERS and their families. We've been able to do this with a GREAT STAFF...Kenny Kolitsch, Chief Tech; Karen Solberg, Head Official; Wayne Soderbeck, Flag and Official; Jason and Tanya Kleinschmidt, MASTERS Racing Partners; Josh Nicholas, Safety Official; Jeremy Schmidt, Crew.
I want to thank ALL of you, and ask that you help us in getting the word out on our races, our race circuit. Help us in getting more drivers and PLEASE make sure you support the clubs, and sponsors of ALL of our races.
See you Friday Night in Kenton or Saturday Morning at the Sidnaw Airport!
